With a combined team GPA of 3.44, the Bethany College volleyball team has been named a 2009-2010 NAIA Scholar Team.
With the high combined GPA, the team also earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award.
For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade point average must include all varsity student-athletes certified as eligible.
The AVCA award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
