Leo Paz, Thaleda, Fla., and Roemon Fields, Seattle, Wash., have signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Bethany College for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Paz, a right-handed pitcher, comes to Bethany from Miami Springs High School. His senior year statistics include three saves and 47 strike-outs with a record of 5-0.

Head Baseball Coach Jeremy Cantrell says, "Leo will add to our depth on the pitching staff. His enthusiasm and passion for the game will be a great contribution to his teammates."

Paz is the son of Leo and Rosa Paz and plans to major in criminal justice.

Fields, a center fielder, is transferring to Bethany from Yakima Valley Community College, where he led the team in stolen bases and batting average with a .370.

Cantrell says, "Roemon is going to increase our team speed immensely as well as be an asset from the left side of the plate. He is also a great addition to the program in many other aspects on and off the field."

Fields plans to major in sports medicine.
