Two members of the 2011 Bethany College football team have been named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes.

Derek Moos is a senior linebacker from Clay Center, Kan. He had 41 total tackles in 26 games played with Bethany. Moos is the son of Mark and Thomasia Moos and is majoring in biology.

Andrew Westbrook is a senior defensive back from Canton, Kan. In 19 games played in his career with Bethany, he had 91 total tackles, two passes broken up, and one interception. Westbrook is the son of Marvin and Darla Westbrook and is majoring in biology and athletic training.

Head Football Coach Jamie Cruce says, "We are proud to have Andrew and Derek represent Bethany College and our football program as Scholar-Athletes.  Their dedication to academic excellence is something that both of these young men take very seriously and we are pleased that they were able to receive this recognition for their hard work. They are both outstanding young men who possess the work ethic necessary to be successful in whatever they do."

Scholar-Athletes are nominated by their institution's head coach and must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status in order qualify for the honor.
