At the Woody Greeno/Nebraska Invitational in Lincoln, NE, on September 15, 2007, the top three men and top four women on the cross country teams competed against several NCAA Division I and Division II teams on course that was much more challenging than last week.  Once again, junior Nhial Malia of Highlands, TX, and junior RaChelle Gaylord of Easton, MO, were the top runners for the Swedes.

In the men's 8K race, Malia ran a season best time of 28:46.70 and was even closer to running a personal best time.  The other men who competed were junior Phil Elbein of Overland Park, KS, who ran a season best time of 29:49.70, and junior Hugo Escobar of Emporia, KS, who came close to a season best time with 30:58.80.

The women raced in their only 6K race of the season; at the 5K mark on the course, all four women found themselves faster than their personal best 5K times.  The top finisher, Gaylord, ran 26:52.70.  She was followed by freshman Morgan Salter of Holcomb, KS, with 28:14.75; senior Bryn Swisher of Lindsborg, KS, with 29:26.10; and junior Priyanka Dixit of Kathmandu, Nepal, with 29:41.75.

On September 28, 2007, the Running Swedes will have full teams and will compete at the Jock's Nitch Invitational in Emporia, KS.
