The Bethany College wrestling Swedes competed Jan. 21 at the York College Open.

Wrestling in the 157 lb. weight class, Colby Crank, a freshman from Hutchinson, Kan., placed sixth. Zach Eaton, a freshman from Mankato, Kan., wrestling unattached, placed fifth in the 174 lb. weight class.

Also competing Saturday was Brandon Goodwin, 125 lb.; Courtney Strauss, 141 lb.; Steven Scott, 149 lb.; Brad Wagner, 174 lb.; Jordan Ward, 174 lb.; Matt Atwood, 184 lb.; Tyler Smith, 285 lb.; and Jason Duffy, 285 lb.

Head Wrestling Coach, Jacob Marrs, said he is proud of the team power his group showed during the York Open.

"Our team members are starting to gel and we are pleased with the family atmosphere our organization is displaying," Marrs said.

Bethany College will host its first-ever home wrestling double dual Wednesday, Jan. 25, versus Wayland Baptist and Concordia University.

On Jan. 29, the team travels to Baker University to compete in the Kansas Cup.
