At the Roger Bishop Memorial in Strobel-Gibson Gymnasium and Anderson Field on February 6 & 10, 2007, junior Caleb Svaty of Kanopolis, KS, improved his qualifying “A” Standard mark, while junior Anna Miller of Blue Rapids, KS, and freshman Amber Dunham, of Independence, KS, finally met qualifying standards for the NAIA National Indoor Track & Field Championships in Johnson City, TN.   Results
 
Winning the men’s invitational weight throw, Svaty broke his school record with 56-03.00.  Depending on how other competitors fare around the nation, this distance would rank him as the number one weight thrower in the NAIA heading into the fifth performance listing of the season. Finishing second in the event was senior Nathan Whitcomb of Cottonwood Falls, KS, who threw 51-09.25.

Other highlights for the men included sophomore Nhial Malia of Highlands, TX, who won the 3000m run in 9:54.49.

In the women’s competition, Miller won the weight throw with a personal best of 49-07.75 which met the NAIA “A” Standard. This is the first time for her to qualify in the event.

Sweeping the first four places in the invitational shot put, the women were led by junior Jessica Becker of Capitan, NM, who won the invitational shot put in 44-06.00.  Meeting the NAIA “B” Standard for the first time, Dunham finished 2nd in the invitational shot put.  Third and fourth place finishers were freshmen Trina Scholl of Colorado Springs, CO, with a personal best 38-07.50 and Michelle Baltimore of Yuma, AZ, with 37-05.75.
Other highlights for the women were in the invitational weight throw where Miller won with 45-09.75, Baltimore finished 4th with a personal best 43-01.05, and freshman Krystal Fletcher of Topeka, KS, finished 8th with a personal best 40-06.75. 

In addition, sophomore Sarah Helm of Seneca, KS, finished 2nd in the 55m dash with 7.56, while freshman Heather Simmons of Howard, KS, finished 2nd in the pole vault with 7-6, tying her school record.
The teams will travel to Warrensburg, MO, on February 17, 2007, for the University of Central Missouri Classic.
