At the NAIA Mid-States Classic hosted by Southwestern College, Winfield, KS, on October 13, 2007, four personal best times were established by the Running Swedes.  One of those personal best times were by junior Nhial Malia of Highlands, TX, who led the men, while junior RaChelle Gaylord of Easton, MO, who led the women, just missed equaling her personal best time by one second.
 
 
In the men's 8K race, Malia's personal best time of 27:43.04 placed in 47th which is the highest finish for a Running Swede at this meet.  He was followed by junior Phil Elbein of Overland Park, KS, in 29:36.31; junior Hugo Escobar of Emporia, KS, in 30:54.99; freshman Yaphete Msgna of Dallas, TX, in 30:58.81; sophomore Adam Rains of Lakin, KS, in 38:12.95; and senior Derek Bartlett of Colorado Springs, CO, in 41:09.96.
 
For the women, Gaylord completed the 5K race in a time of 21:43.45.  Following her was freshman Morgan Salter of Holcomb, KS, in a personal best 22:31.45; junior Priyanka Dixit of Kathamandu, Nepal, in a personal best 23:54.34; sophomore Stephanie Wilson of Pomona, KS, in 24:58.41; and senior Bryn Swisher of Lindsborg, KS, in 25:40.64.  Competing in her first race since knee surgery this past summer, junior Marcie Schottler of Marysville, KS, finished in 30:19.49 and was followed by freshman Kayla Hemphill of Gypsum, KS, in a personal best 30:21.34.
 
Both teams compete in the KCAC Championships hosted by Tabor College at the Marion Reservoir on October 27, 2007.
