Kyle Zerr, Ulysses, Kan., has signed a letter of intent to play men's basketball at Bethany College for the 2012-2013 academic year.
Zerr, a six-foot guard, comes to Bethany from Ulysses High School, where he lettered in basketball all four years. He earned All-League Honorable Mention and All-League Second Team honors. During his freshman year, Zerr was the Orange and Black Three-Point Champion. In his senior year, he was the Tournament of Champions Free Throw Champion. Zerr was named to the Red and Blue All-Tournament Team three consecutive years. He averaged 12.7 points, 1.9 assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game. He shot 43% from the field and 32% from the three point line.
In addition to basketball, Zerr also ran cross country and track. He was a four-year letter winner in both sports and four-time state qualifier in track receiving fifth place in 2011 and sixth place in 2012 in the 4 X 800 relay. Zerr earned All-League Cross Country honors all four years and earned All-State Academic honors.
Head Men's Basketball Coach Clair Oleen says, "We are pleased to have Kyle Zerr join us here at Bethany College. Kyle is a tough, hard-nosed player who can also knock down the three-point shot. We look forward to having Kyle develop as a college player through our junior varsity program this coming season. He is a good addition to Bethany basketball."
Zerr is the son of Bruce and Becky Zerr. He has a 3.9 grade point average and plans to major in sports management.
