Pablo Contreras, Long Beach, Calif., and Daniel Hordo, Los Angeles, Calif., have signed letters of intent to play baseball at Bethany College for the 2012-2013 academic year.
Contreras comes to Bethany from El Camino College Compton Center. Prior to college he attended Marina High School in Huntington Beach, Calif., where he played baseball. He earned all-conference outfielder in South Coast Conference in 2012.
Head Baseball Coach Jeremy Cantrell says, "Pablo will provide a lot of offense from the left side of the plate. He does a very good job of getting the most out of every at-bat."
Contreras is the son of Pedro and Lucia Contreras and plans to major in physical health and wellness.
Hordo is also transferring to Bethany from El Camino College Compton Center. Prior to college, Hordo attended Venice High School in Los Angeles, Calif., where he played baseball as a varsity catcher for three years. He earned first-team all-league honors two years and first-team all-city honors his senior year.
Cantrell says, "Daniel is a good defensive catcher who is very knowledgeable of the game. I am looking for him to raise the level of that position."
Hordo is the son of Jose Hordo and Annette Dennis. He is planning to major in physical health and wellness.
