The Bethany College golf team has earned the 2012 Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Team Academic Award presented by Farmers Insurance as released by the association on August 1.
To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college or university must submit the grade point averages for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.
Bethany's golf team recorded a 3.21 grade point average for the 2012 season. Members of the team that contributed were Tim Daniels, Corona, Calif.; Jack Hiscock, Swindon, England; Ben Johnson, London, England; Thatcher Keast, Salina, Kan.; Jose Luis Lelo de Larrea, Mexico; Tyler Maydew, Longmont, Colo.; Matt Murrow, Tipton, Kan.; Matt O'Neill, Warrington, England; Tanner Thurman, Salina, Kan.; James Tisdale, Liverpool, England; and Adam Weishaar, Salina, Kan.
"I am proud of the accomplishment they achieved in the classroom," says Head Golf Coach Jon Daniels. "It is certainly reflective of the hard work the faculty puts in for our students."
A total of 124 teams submitted GPAs of 3.00 or higher to earn All-Academic Team recognition but there were only 12 NAIA teams that qualified for the award. Two of those were KCAC schools, the other being Bethel College in Newton, Kan. To view a full release click here.
