Julien Castaṅeda, Modesto, Calif., has signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Bethany College for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Castaṅeda is transferring to Bethany from Modesto Junior College. His sophomore season he had a .500 batting average. Prior to college Castaṅeda attended Johansen Peter High School, where he played baseball all four years. He earned first-team all-league honors, all-county third base honors and was named the Most Valuable Player in the All-Star Game.

In addition to baseball, Castaṅeda also ran cross country for three years.

Head Baseball Coach Jeremy Cantrell says, "Julien has a chance to be a very good player in the conference.  I am excited about him joining the team."

Castaṅeda is the son of Richard and Lydia Castaṅeda and is undecided on his major at this time.
