Alexander Loul, Portland, Ore., has signed a letter of intent to play men's basketball at Bethany College for the 2012-2013 academic year.
Loul, a six-foot-five forward, is transferring to Bethany from Clackamas Community College. Prior to college, Loul attended Parkrose High School, where he played basketball. He earned second-team all-conference honors and honorable mention honors. Loul averaged 9.8 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per game. He shot 49% from the field and 88% from the free throw line.
In addition to basketball Loul also played football for two years earning third-team all-conference honors. He participated in track for one year throwing the javelin, shot put, and discus.
"We are pleased to have Alex Loul become a part of Bethany basketball as he studies sports psychology here at Bethany College. Alex is a versatile player who plays well facing the basket as well as back to the basket. He is a great passer, runs the floor well, and plays hard," says Head Men's Basketball Coach Clair Oleen. "Thank you to Coach Clif Wegner at Clackamas Community College, who runs a great basketball program there and to Dr. Bryce Young, a nationally acclaimed sports psychologist who is a Bethany alum and former Bethany coach who has talked to Alex about the field."
Loul is the son of Loul sium and Lula tecle. He plans to major in sports management.
