Idris Ibn Idris, National City, Calif., has signed a letter of intent to play men's basketball at Bethany College for the 2012-2013 academic year.
Idris, a six-foot-four guard, is transferring to Bethany from University of California Riverside. Prior to college, Idris attended Hoover High School in San Diego, where he played basketball. He earned first-team all-league honors, all-academic honors, and all-CIF honors. Idris averaged 17.4 points per game and 2.8 rebounds per game. He shot 47% from the field and 74% from the free throw line.
Head Men's Basketball Coach Clair Oleen says, "We are pleased to have Idris Idris transfer to Bethany College and become a part of Bethany basketball. Idris comes to us after playing a year for my friend, Coach Jim Wooldridge, at California-Riverside as a walk-on. In high school, Idris helped lead Hoover High School under Coach Ollie Goulston to several state championships. Idris is a super young man and a very skilled, long and athletic guard whom we expect to make a positive impact on Bethany basketball."
Idris is the son of Idris ibn Dawud and Leticia Alvarado and plans to major in political science.
