On October 27, 2007, the Running Swedes traveled to the Marion Reservoir in Marion, KS, for the KCAC Cross Country Championships hosted by Tabor College, Hillsboro, KS, where 14 of the 15 athletes who competed ran either personal best times or season best times.  Leading the way for the men who placed 7th as a team was junior Phil Elbein of Overland Park, KS, while junior RaChelle Gaylord of Easton, MO, lead the women who placed 8th as a team.
 
 
For the men in the 8K race, Elbein's season best time of 28:35.37 was less than 25 seconds away from his personal best time.  Following him was junior Nhial Malia, of Highlands, TX, who finished in 29:28.17 after experiencing a tight back for the first time this season.  Personal best times were posted by junior Hugo Escobar of Emporia, KS, in 29:29.59, freshman Yaphete Msgna of Dallas, TX, in 30:28.32, and sophomore Adam Rains of Lakin, KS, in 33:25.23, while a season best time was posted by senior Derek Bartlett of Colorado Springs, CO, in 39:29.28.
 
In the women's 5K race, Gaylord ran a personal best 21:10.51 while fighting off hip pain through most of the race.  She was followed by fresman Morgan Salter of Holcomb, KS, in a personal best 21:41.73, senior Bryn Swisher of Lindsborg, KS, in a personal best 22:46.71, junior Sarah Helm of Seneca, KS, in 23:02.84, senior Erin Gutsch of Olsburg, KS, in a season best 23:20.61, sophomore Stephanie Wilson of Pomona, KS, in a season best 23:40.58, junior Priyanka Dixit of Kathmandu, Nepal, in a personal best 23:46.04, sophomore Gilda Alvarez of Yuma, AZ, in a personal best 23:48.49, and junior Marcie Schottler of Marysville, KS, in a season best 24:57.05.
 
The NAIA Region IV Cross Country Championships are hosted by the College of Saint Mary on November 3, 2007, at the Lakeview Golf Course in Omaha, NE.  The winning teams in each race as well as the top 5 finishers not on the winning team qualify for the NAIA National Cross Country Championships in Kenosha, WI, on November 17, 2007.
