The Bethany College women's soccer team is off to a 2-2 start this season.

The team kicked off their season with a 5-0 win over Manhattan Christian College on Aug. 28.

The team tallied 32 total shots with 17 shots on goal. With scores were Shaunice Huffman, senior, Las Vegas, Nev.; Tessa Kuhlengel, junior, Lake Dallas, Texas; Riley Council, junior, Las Vegas, Nev.; Amanda VanLoenen, senior, Flower Mound, Texas; and Christina Noonan, freshman, San Diego, Calif.

On Sept 3 the Swedes hosted Northwestern Oklahoma State University, coming away with a 1-0 win.

Bethany had six shots with two shots on goal. Noonan had the lone score.

Sophomore keeper Jasmine Zaker, Mesa, Ariz., had six saves.

The Swedes then travelled to California to take on Hope International University and The Master's College, with both games being played at The Master's College in Santa Clarita, Calif.

The team first faced Hope International on Sept. 6, losing 0-4.

Bethany had nine total shots with five shots on goal while HIU had 19 total shots with 14 shots on goal.

Zaker had 10 saves on the day.

On Sept. 8, Bethany lost 1-7 to The Master's College.

Bethany had three shots with three shots on goal while The Master's had 34 total shots and 22 shots on goal.

Jeana-Brinae Russell, a freshman from Aurora, Colo., had the lone goal for Bethany.

Zaker allowed five goals and had 10 saves. Fellow keeper Jessica Shepherd, a sophomore from Valley, Neb., allowed two goals and had five saves.

The team next faces Bellevue University Sept. 15 at 1 p.m. in Lindsborg. The team travels to Central Christian College Sept. 15 for a 6 p.m. game.
