Five members of the Bethany College cross country team captured personal bests at the Emporia State University Invitational held Sept. 28.
For the women, Kylee Martinez and Joanna Roberts both hit PRs. Roberts (145) took nearly a full minute off her time while Martinez, who finished 46th, shaved 23 seconds off her time. Courtney Lomax (123) and Brianna Madden (141) also competed.
On the men's side, Jeremiah Gerardy, James Farris and Jodan Dahlke all hit personal bests. Gerardy led the men's team with a 26th place finish. Farris came in 30th while Dahlke finished 51st. Also competing were James Vieyra, Will Nez and Ryan Clark.
Bethany Head Cross Country Coach Robert Spies said his runners had much better consistency throughout this race. "I am really pleased to see the progress of these young men and women as they now have pushed through another meet," Spies added.
Spies noted that his team needs to stay focused and work diligently as they train through the weeks the come.
The Swedes will compete Oct. 13 at the McPherson College Open.
