It was another second place finish for the Bethany College golf team Sept. 24 at the Hastings Fall Invite.
Bethany and University of Nebraska – Kearney, were tied at 290 after round one. Round two was hard-fought by both teams, but it was UN Kearney that came away with the team win, completing round two at 295. The Swedes hit 298 as a team in round two.
Bethany's Ben Johnson came in tied for second individually at one under par. Jose Luis Lelo de Larrea captured a fourth-place finish at even par.
Also competing for the Swedes were Greg Miller (t13), Matt O'Neill (t27) and Lex Deal (39).
Bethany Head Golf Coach Jon Daniels said the golfers who are available to play have been improving. He said he hopes to add one or two players back to the roster "which will be of help to us and raise our level of play in tournaments."
"This group of golfers are work-oriented and it is fun to coach guys that have the work ethic they have," Daniels said. "I am proud of them and we are right where we need to be at this time of year," he added.
The Swedes travel to Shawnee, Okla. for the Oklahoma Baptist tournament Oct. 8-9 before hosting their home tournament on Oct. 15 at Salina Municipal Golf Course and Great Life Golf Course.
