The Bethany College men's soccer team captured their first win of the season, a 4-1 win over University of Saint Mary on Oct. 3. The men then experienced a 1-1 double-overtime tie at Sterling College on Oct. 6.
The Swedes had 22 total shots last week versus USM with 12 shots on goal.
With scores were Lewis Collins, a junior from Fulham, England; sophomore Lucas Procopio, Fortaleza Ceara, Brazil; Michael O'Connor, a junior from Watertown, Wisc.; and freshman Trevor Kistler, Mansfield, Texas.
Versus Sterling on Oct. 6 the Swedes had 12 total shots and six shots on goal. But teams scored one goal each in the second half. Scoring for Bethany was Lewis Collins.
Keeper Kayo Vaz, a sophomore from Fortaleza Ceara, Brazil, had three saves.
Bethany continues their conference schedule with a 7:30 p.m. game versus Southwestern College on Oct. 10 at Anderson Stadium. On Oct. 13 the team travels to Kansas Wesleyan University for a 1:30 p.m. game.
While Head Men's Soccer Coach Kevin Megli is pleased with his team's conference start, he is not satisfied with the results.
"We need to be stronger on our defensive end and more fluent on the offensive end," Megli said, noting that there is room for improvement in all areas of the game.
