The Bethany College football Swedes lost 7-44 to Tabor College on Homecoming Weekend, falling to 1-4 in the KCAC and 2-5 overall.

After falling behind 0-10 in the first quarter, Bethany managed to add seven to the board in the second quarter on a Darby House to James Johnson pass play. The Bluejays, who are nationally-ranked, also added seven, going into halftime with a 17-7 lead over Bethany.

The second half of the game wasn't any kinder to the Swedes. Tabor kept their momentum rolling, adding 14 points in the third quarter and 13 points in the fourth quarter to the disappointment of the Homecoming crowd.

As a team the Swedes had just 234 offensive yards to Tabor's 354. Just 16 Swede yards were on the ground on 23 attempts.

House was 15 for 35 with three interceptions and one TD. He passed for 173 yards. Backup QB Zach Waggoner was three for 13 with one interception.

Brandon Martino had eight receptions for 103 yards while Johnson had five receptions for 70 yards and one TD.

On defense William Sanchez had 11 total tackles while Steven Williams chalked up 10. Cody Linnebur had nine total tackles with two sacks for loss of yardage.

The Swedes next travel to Wichita to face nationally-ranked Friends University at 3 p.m. on Oct. 20.
