The men's golf team hosted the Bethany Fall Golf Invitational on Oct. 15. The 36-hole event took place at the Salina Municipal Golf Course (par 70, 6522) and Great Life Golf Course (par 71, 6031) in Salina.

The two Swedes teams finished in first place (571) and in second place (618). Kansas Wesleyan University finished in third place (621).

The Swedes also took the top three spots individually. Ben Johnson, sophomore from West Sussex, England, finished in first place (73-66), shooting the low round of the tournament with a 66 at Great Life Golf in the afternoon under perfect weather conditions. Jose Luis Lelo de Larrea, sophomore from Queretaro, Mexico, finished in second place (70-70) with a one under par total. Greg Miller, freshman from Livingston, Scotland, finished in third place (71-73). Other top ten finishers were Lex Deal in sixth place (74-74), James Tisdale in seventh place (75-74), and Matt O'Neill tied for tenth place (74-79).

"I was very pleased with how all ten golfers played," says Head Golf Coach Jon Daniels. "It's always nice to get a win at your home tournament. Ben shot exceptionally well and lead the team. There are some areas of work to be done and we will work on addressing those this week but overall both teams played well."

All Bethany golfers finished in the top 20 at their home tournament. Also playing for the Swedes were Adam Weishaar, T12 (78-77), Tanner Thurman, T14 (73-83), Blake Cormack, T17 (77-80), and Tim Daniels, T19 (78-80).

The Swedes will complete their fall schedule when they travel to Grand Prairie, Texas, to compete in the Northwood Shootout at Tangle Ridge Golf Course on Oct. 29-30.
