After finishing second in conference, the Swedes were given a first round bye in the conference tournament for all of their hard work. Even though they were to play one less game than the lower seeds, the Swedes had three tough days at practice to get ready for Bethel. Ultimately the Swedes dropped the KCAC Tournament Championship to rival KWU, 3-0.

Given that the Swedes were one of the top teams in conference, they were rewarded with a home game in their playoff opener against Bethel. Despite the fact that they lost their previous match up against Bethel, the Swedes were determined to beat them in the playoffs where it really mattered. And that is exactly what they did; the Swedes beat the Threshers in 4 games on Thursday night, making them advance to the championship game against Kansas Wesleyan on Saturday.

Going in to the game on Saturday, you could tell that the Swedes were so anxious to play Kansas Wesleyan, and that they wanted to bring home a conference tournament championship. The Swedes battled their hearts out, but fell short to the Coyotes in 3 games. Despite their loss, the Swedes still advanced to the Regional tournament in Nebraska, where they are ranked as the #7 team, and will face the College of Saint Mary in the first round.

No team in the KCAC has ever made it past the first round in regionals, but with all extra sweat and tears that the Swedes have shed this year, they are determined to break that streak. All Region IV Tournament games will be played at Bellevue University's Gordon Lozier Athletic Center. The Swedes play their first game of the single elimination tournament at 5:30 on Thursday, and if they win, they play on Friday at the same time. If they win that game, then they advance to the regional championship game, which will take place on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

For all their hard work and determination, junior Brittany Westenfelder, junior Lisa Runnebaum, and senior Kelli Noonan, were named to the all conference teams. Brittany made second team, and Lisa and Kelli made first team all conference. Congrats!
