The Bethany men's basketball team wrapped up the last of their non-conference games on Thanksgiving weekend before KCAC action begins on November 29 at home against McPherson College.
On Friday evening, November 23 the Swedes traveled to Denver, Colorado to play in the Colorado Christian College Classic. This first game of the holiday tournament saw the Swedes take on Baptist Bible College. Bethany dominated this contest throughout as they held a 53-20 at the half and then cruised with a 63-point second half output for a 116-41 victory. Bethany shot a very impressive 64 percent from the field and 64 percent from the line in the triple-digit victory.
Bethany was led in scoring by Luis Marrero with 17 points followed by Sedrick Childress 14, Seth Nelson 13, Trey Beachum 10, Adam Heald 10, Jason Mihalcin.10, Larry McLin nine, Jordan Bieberle eight, Dwight Abad seven, Wade Ahlvers six, Ray Purtle five, Vincent Roybal four, and Danny Dodson three.
The Saturday game was against the host school, Colorado Christian College. This game was a much more competitive game as Bethany held the lead at 24-22 at the half. Colorado Christian was able to overcome this deficit and outscored the Swedes 35-28 in the second half to earn a very tightly fought victory, 57-52. Bethany was limited to just 39 percent from the floor after their very impressive offensive production the evening before.
Trey Beachum and Ray Purtle led the scoring for the Swedes with eight points apiece followed by Sedrick Childress seven, Jason Milalcin six, Seth Nelson six, Adam Heald six, Larry McLin six, Jordan Bieberle three and Wade Ahlvers two.
