At the first indoor track & field meet of the season at the KSU All-Comers Meet in Manhattan, KS, four athletes qualified for the NAIA National Indoor Track & Field Championships in Johnson City, TN. Those athletes who qualified were senior Jessica Becker of Capitan, NM, and senior Anna Miller of Blue Rapids, KS, for the women and senior Caleb Svaty of Kanopolis, KS, and senior Nathan Whitcomb of Cottonwood Falls, KS, for the men. For the women, Becker, who placed 3rd in the shot put, met the "A" Standard with her school record throw of 47-09.25; she betters her old school record by over a foot. She also met the "B" Standard with her 7th place throw of 47-09.25 in the indoor weight. Placing just in front of Becker in 6th place, Miller also hit the "B" Standard in the indoor weight with 48-00.00.
Just missing the "B" Standard by .02 seconds in the 60m hurdles, junior Sarah Helm of Seneca, KS, finished 5th with a time of 9.54. Another top ten finish for the women included Michelle Baltimore of Yuma, AZ, who was 9th in the indoor weight with a personal record 46-11.75.
On the day before the All-Comers Meet, KSU hosted the Carol Robinson Multi-Event Meet where freshman Danielle Garman of Lincoln, KS, finished 8th in the pentathlon with 2772 points.
In the men's competition, Svaty finished 4th in the indoor weight with 52-11.00 and met the "A" Standard, while Whitcomb finished 7th in the event with 52-02.00 and met the "B" Standard. They were only two who finished in the top ten.
On Friday, December 14, the teams travel to the UNK Pre-Holiday Open in Kearney, NE.
