Becoming the the 3rd member of the men's 2008 track & field recruiting class, Tomas Ortiz, a long sprinter from Lyons High School in Lyons, KS, signed with the Bethany College Track & Field Team on February 2, 2008. The son of Tomas and Blasa Ortiz, Ortiz plans on majoring in business.
With a personal best of 53.8 in the 400m dash, Ortiz has maintained a 3.73 GPA and for 4 years has been named to the Lyons High School Honor Roll as well as attended the Scholar's Banquet. He has also been a member of the Spanish Club and the Science Club.
At Bethany, Ortiz may also try competing in cross country.
