At the UNK All-Comers Meet in Kearney, NE, on February 15, sophomore Michelle Baltimore of Yuma, AZ, qualified for her first NAIA Indoor National Track & Field Championships in the indoor weight.  The National Championships will be held in Johnson City, TN, on March 6-8.
 
With her personal best throw of 48-03.25 in the event, Baltimore placed 3rd and is currently ranked 18th nationally in the NAIA.  She was the only athlete who qualified at the meet or improved on their national ranking.
 
Third place finishes by the women were also earned by junior Sarah Helm of Seneca, KS, and freshman Morgan Salter of Holcomb, KS.  Helm ran 8.96 in the 55 hurdles, while Salter ran a personal best 11:36.42 in the 3000m run. 
 
Other women to place in the top six were:  sophomore Krystal Fletcher of Topeka, KS, who was 5th in the indoor weight (a personal best 47-03.25); freshman Danielle Garman of Lincoln, KS, who was 6th in the 55m hurdles (9.28) and in the long jump (a personal best 16-03.75); Helm who was 5th in the 55m dash (season best 7.58); and junior Anna Miller of Blue Rapids, KS, who was 4th in the indoor weight (47-11.00).
 
The women's 4 x 400m relay team of Garman, Helm, sophomore Stephanie Wilson of Pomona, KS, and freshman Jaci Kepler of Bassett, NE, finished 5th in a season best 4:24.52.
 
For the men, senior Nathan Whitcomb finished 3rd in the indoor weight with a throw of 57-04.75.  Meanwhile, the 4 x 400m relay team of freshman Nick O'Loughlin of Hugoton, KS, junior Hugo Escobar of Emporia, KS, junior James Bowden of Salina, KS, and sophomore Adam Rains of Lakin, KS, also finished 3rd with a time of 3:37.49.
 
Other men to place in the top six were:  O'Loughlin who was 6th in the 400m dash (53.11) and senior Caleb Svaty of Kanopolis, KS, who was 5th in the indoor weight (55-02.00).
 
On February 23, the Swedes host the Bethany Indoor Last Chance Meet at Stroble-Gibson Gymnasium and Anderson Track & Field Complex.
