Seven athletes will compete in the 2008 NAIA Indoor National Track & Field Championships at the Memorial Center in Johnson City, TN, on March 6-8, 2008.  Of the seven athletes who qualified, five of them are ranked in the top 10 in the nation, giving them a shot at earning NAIA All-American Honors and even possibly an individual NAIA National Championship.
 
Two athletes who are ranked 2nd in their events are junior Jessica Becker of Capitan, NM, and senior Nathan Whitcomb, of Cottonwood Falls, KS.  Becker's ranking is in the women's shot put (50-08.00), while Whitcomb's is in the men's indoor weight (59-11.75).  Both of their throws are current school records. 
 
Just missing the top 5 in their events are senior Anna Miller of Blue Rapids, KS, and senior Caleb Svaty of Kanopolis, KS.  Miller is ranked 6th in the women's indoor weight (51-05.50), while Svaty is also ranked 6th in the men's indoor weight (57-09.00).  Each of them are ranked 6th. 
 
The other top 10 ranking is by Becker who is ranked 8th in the indoor weight (51-01.75).  
 
Other Bethany rankings in the national meet include:  Miller, who is 16th in the women's shot put (42-00.00); freshman Danielle Garman of Lincoln, KS, who is 16th in the women's pentathlon (3063--also a current school record); junior Sarah Helm of Seneca, KS, who is 21st in the 60m hurdles (9.25); and sophomore Michelle Baltimore of Yuma, AZ, who is 23rd in the women's indoor weight (48-03.25).
 
During Day 1 of the meet, the women's pentathlon is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. (Eastern Time).  For the pentathlon, athletes compete in five individual events:  60m hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump, and the 800m run.
 
For Day 2, the starting times for Bethany College events are:  1:00 p.m. for the preliminaries in the women's 60m hurdles and the men's indoor weight; 2:35 p.m. for the women's semi-finals in the 60m hurdles; and 4:00 p.m. for the women's indoor weight.
 
On Day 3, the starting times for Bethany College events are:  10:00 a.m. for the women's shot put, and 12:45 p.m. for the finals of the women's 60m hurdles.
