The Bethany College Department of Athletics announces the release of free mobile apps for Android and iOS. The Swedes are hosting a week-long app download event, titled "1K on 2/1," and are encouraging students, faculty, staff, and fans to download the BC Swedes app to reach the goal of 1,000 downloads before the end of the week, Saturday, February 1, at the home basketball games against Ottawa University. If there are 1,000 downloads, the Athletics Department is providing pizza for the students at the game.
The Bethany College Athletics app is free of charge and can be accessed by visiting the Android App Store here and at the Apple App Store here on mobile Android and iOS devices and tablets.
This is the latest in a line of communication upgrades in the past three months to Bethany Athletics following a website makeover and social media improvements.
"As a department we have been working very hard to make improvements to our athletics coverage," said Tony Stennett, Coordinator of Athletic Communications. "With the launch of this app, our newly designed website, and the furthering our social media efforts, we hope everyone has an avenue to know about the successes of our teams on and off the playing fields."
Dane Pavlovich, Dean of Athletics, added, "The Bethany College Department of Athletics is proud to release a new way for our fans to follow the Swedes. Both apps feature streamlined access to the athletics website so all of Swede Nation can stay easily stay connected to events, updates, scores, and the latest information."
Bethany Athletics partnered with their website-hosting company, SIDHelp, to create the app. The apps were officially released after the final versions were approved by the app stores earlier this week. The app allows users to access scores, updates, social media, schedules, rosters, team and coaches information, and game day links such as live stats, live audio, and live video.
