Women's Basketball Coach Greg Mittelsteadt announced the team's award winners for the 2007-2008 season.
Most Improved Player

Sophomore Amber Dunham (Independence, Ks) and freshman Claire Cole (Kensington, KS) will share the Most Improved Player (MIP) Award. Voted on by their teammates, the MIP is awarded to individual making the most improvement throughout the season.
Dunham, a 5'10 post, moved into the varsity rotation at midseason and provided a strong post presence for the Swedes throughout the season. In her best game, Dunham scored 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds against nationally ranked Sterling College.
Cole, a 5'11 post, was the leading scorer on the junior varsity team. She scored a season-high 26 points in the JV win against North Platte (NE) Community College.
According to Coach Mittelsteadt, "Both Amber and Claire are deserving of this award. They worked very hard throughout the year to develop their skills and it paid off for them. We expect big things from them in the future."

Junior RaChelle Gaylord was honored by the team with the Teammate Award. This award is given to the individual who best displays the qualities of teamwork, dedication, and commitment to her teammates and the program as a whole.
Gaylord, averaged 7 points and 5 rebounds per game for the Swedes and led the team, shooting 50% from the field.
According to Coach Mittelsteadt, "RaChelle is one of the special people with the ability to bring out the best in others. Her enthusiasm for basketball and care for her teammates make her a valuable asset to our program. She exemplifies the qualities we seek in our athletes as she is truly dedicated to the success of the team and the success of her teammates."
