With an overall record of 20-7 and conference record of 9-1, the softball Swedes currently are ranked second in NAIA Region IV. Ranked first is Bellevue University of Nebraska.
   
The Swedes are on a roll this spring, winning their last two conference double headers. Earlier in March, the team racked up at 12-game winning streak before splitting a double header with Ottawa University on March 27.
 
Head coach Janice Esses attributes a large part of her team's success to good leadership.
 
"We have a great group of upperclassmen who have great work ethic. They are able to lead our underclassmen very well," Esses said.
 
At the plate, Esses said the team has a strong lineup that has been hitting the ball well. Defensively, the team remains strong, Esses said.
 
Statistically, the Swedes hold variouls rankings in regionally and nationally:
NAIA Region IV:
First in batting average - .369
Second in RBI's - 6.213/game
Tied for first in fielding pct. - .951
Savannah Dejmal: First in ERA - 1.60
Sarah Logan: Fourth in batting average - .462
Kelli Noonan: Fourth in RBI's - 1.14/game
 
NAIA (nationally)
Fifth in hits per game - 10.773/game
Ninth in batting average - .369
Sarah Logan: first in doubles - .591
 
The softball Swedes next travel to Friends University April 8, followed by nearly a three-week stretch playing on the road. The Swedes finish their home game schedule April 26 vs. McPherson College and APril 27 vs. Benedictine College.
