At the 81st Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at the University of Texas on April 2-5, 2008, junior Jessica Becker of Capitan, NM, improved her qualifying "A" mark for the NAIA National Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Edwardsville, IL, and set the school record in the shot put once again.
On Day 3 of the meet, Becker competed in the B Section of the University/College Division shot put and placed 2nd overall with a throw of 49-03.50. Becker was less than 5 inches out of first place. If she would have won the event, she would have had the opportunity to compete the following day in the A Section of the competition.
Also competing at the meet were freshman Danielle Garman of Lincoln, KS, and junior Sarah Helm of Seneca, KS. On Day 2, Garman competed in the 400m hurdles finishing 45th with a time of 1:10.03, while Helm ran a season best 15.47 in the 100m hurdles and finished 61st on Day 3. Each of them competed in the University/College Divisions.
The women's team will join the men at the ACCK Track & Field Championships at Bethel College in North Newton, KS, on April 12, while Garman will compete at the ESU Mutli-Event in Emporia, KS, on April 10-11.
