Competing at the ESU Multi-Event in Emporia, KS, on April 10-11, 2008, freshman Danielle Garman of Lincoln, KS, set the school record in the heptathlon with a score of 4115, placing 9th overall. In seven events over two days, she posted five personal bests.
On the first day, Garman scored a personal best 2458 points, placing her in 10th overall. She ran a personal best 16.55 (648 points) in the 100m hurdles, jumped 4-09.00 (566) in the high jump, threw a personal best 33-04.75 (541) in the shot put, and ran a personal best 27.11 (703) in the 200m dash.
With two more personal bests on the second day, Garman moved up one spot into 9th overall. She jumped 16-02.25 (540) in the long jump, threw a personal best 93-02.00 (447) in the javelin, and ran an outdoor personal best 2:31.84 (670) in the 800m run.
Garman's next heptathlon is at the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, KS, on April 16-17.
