Bethany Head Softball Coach Janice Esses has signed several student-athletes to play softball for the 2008-2009 academic year.    
Tasha Dugan, Benton, Kan.
 
Dugan is a starting center fielder from Circle High School, Towanda, Kan. There she also played third base and short stop. In addition she played volleyball four years and basketball three years.
 
Off the field she was involved in science olympiad and the Pitt State Match Relays.
 
Dugan is the daughter of Nancy Dugan and Don Nelson. She has a 3.9 high school GPA. At Bethany she plans to study mechanical engineering through the college's 3+2 Engineering program.

 
Kellyn Peters, Palmer, Kan.
 
Peters attends Linn High School, Linn, Kan. where she played volleyball, basketball and participated in track & field. She also played second base and short stop four years for the Clay Center B's.
 
Off the field Peters is a member of the National Honor Society with a 4.0 high school GPA. This also earned her all-league academic honors. At Linn High School, Peters was active in FBLA, FCCLA, FFA, theatre and forensics. She also was a member of the art club and L-Club.
 
Peters is the daughter of Bryce and Gaye Lyn Peters. At Bethany she plans to study physical therapy through the college's pre-medicine program.
        

 
Stephanie Tyler, Glendale, Ariz.
 
Tyler is a utility player from Deer Valley High School. In 2005 Tyler was named MVP of her junior varsity team, which was undefeated on the season. The following year she started at second on the varsity team, which was named conference runners-up. Although injured most of the 2007 season, Tyler earned first-team academic all-confrence honors. Her team went on to win the conference championship.
 
There she also was a three-year letterwinner in cross country and soccer. She earned first-team all-region honors for soccer in 2006 and 2007. Deer Valley girl's soccer team was conference runners-up in '06 and '07 and were crowned conference champions in 2008.
 
Off the field Tyler is a four-year member of the honor roll and the National Honor Society. She also was vice-president of the French club and a member of the French Honor Society.
 
Tyler is the daughter of Brian and Patty Tyler. At Bethany she plans to study elementary education.

 
Christine Zerbe, Topeka, Kan.
 
Zerbe is an infielder from Mission Valley High School, Eskridge, Kan. There she also played volleyball, softball and was a member of the dance team.
 
Off the field Zerbe is active in student council, serving as class president her junior year and class vice-president her freshman year. Currently she serves as student council president. She also is active in Big Brothers Big Sisters, KAYS, spirit club, FCCLA, FBLA, FCA and SADD. She also earned silver medals two years at the Art Star Event.
 
Zerbe is the daugther of Cathy Berry and Alex Zerbe. She has a 3.2 high school GPA. At Bethany she plans to study business.

Jessica Thelen, Strasburg, Colo.

Thelen is a four-year starter at Strasburg High School, playing second and third base. There she earned all-conference and first team all-state honors. She also was named team MVP and an all-state participant  for 3A league. She also is a two-year letterwinner on the basketball team.
 
Off the field, Thelen is an honor student active in student council and National Honor Society. She served as a representative on comittees at her school; one that focused on increasing positive behavior and morale at school and one that focused on school improvement and achievement goals.  In addition, Thelen has been a STARS mentor, being selected to attend the STARS National Conference as a youth director and has been a volunteer for the Denver Rescue Mission and as a youth coach for basketball and softball. Thelen was named prom queen and homecoming queen her senior year.
 
Thelen is the daughter of Monte and Jacque Thelen. She has a 3.93 high school GPA. At Bethany she plans to study social work.
