At the Nebraska Open in Lincoln, NE, on April 27, 2008, junior Jessica Becker of Capitan, NM, and sophomore Amber Dunham of Independence, KS, enjoyed the day as both of them improved their national marks for the NAIA Outdoor National Championships in the shot put, while Dunham qualified in the javelin.
In the women's shot put, Becker placed 2nd overall with 50-01.25, improving her second place ranking nationally and setting the school record for the fourth time this season.
For Dunham, she placed 6th with a season best 44-00.50 in the shot put and improved her qualifying mark for the national meet. In addition to this, she also placed 4th in the javelin with a season best 127-07.00 which meets the NAIA "B" Standard.
Also placing in the top 6 at the meet was senior Hope Stieben of Otis, KS, who was 5th in the javelin with 121-01.00.
The teams travel to the KCAC Track & Field Championships at Friends University in Wichita, KS, on May 2-3.
