The Swede women's tennis team was crowned NAIA Region IV Champions with a 5-3 win in finals.
The Bethany women played their best match of the year while defeating Bethel College by a 5-3 score.
"Our women knew they had to play well and they did. We were within two points of sweeping all three doubles points, and followed it up by playing great singles. It was a great team effort and now we will wait to see who we get at the NAIA National Tournament beginning on May 12," head coach Vic Bateman said.
Junior Aimee Harrell, Salina, Kan., posted a huge win 6-3, 6-1 totally dominating her opponent. Shanda Kilian, a senior from Russell, Kan., once again was undefeated in singles when it mattered most and teamed with Michelle Hinman, senior, Longmont, Colo., to win the crucial #2 doubles point.
Freshmen Victoria Guedez, Venezuela and freshman Stacie Schoon, Winfield, Kan., who have been undefeated in singles and doubles all year, continued their great play.
