LINDSBORG, Kan. – The Bethany College tennis teams took to the courts on Thursday afternoon with minimal wind and sunny skies. The men's team beat Kansas Wesleyan University 9-0 while the women's team lost 8-1.

After starting slow, Manuel Raga and Juan Mateus regrouped to grit out an 8-6 No. one doubles win. Bruno Campos and Aaron Moses, Jr. claimed the No. two doubles point with an 8-4 win, while Conrad Mascarenhas and Jamie Olarieta cruised to an 8-1 No. three doubles win.

Raga took the No. one singles point 6-2, 6-0 and Mateus took the No. two singles point 6-0, 6-2. Mascarenhas breezed to a 6-1, 6-1 No. three singles win. Campos took the No. four singles point 6-1, 6-2 and Aaron Moses, Jr. claimed a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. five singles. Olarieta had the closest match of the day but one 6-1, 7-6 (7-2).

The team of Kittey Edwards and Amelia Fabrizius won No. one doubles 8-3 for the women's only point of the match.

"We played solid from start to finish against a much improved KWU team. Juan and Manny led the way in singles making quick work of two solid players. Bruno and Aaron both took care of business in singles and doubles to seal the victory for us," said head coach Tony Swiantek
