LINDSBORG Kan. – The Swedes fell tonight to the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles in three sets 25-21, 27-25, 25-19. Bethany moves to a record 9-17 overall and 7-10 in conference play.

Despite the score, the Swedes appeared to have the momentum for a lot of the match, the Eagles were just able to keep victory out of reach.

After trailing by six at the midway point in the first set the Swedes were able to cut that lead to one 18-19. The Eagles would pull away and thanks to an even effort by their front line.

In the second set the Swedes got down 0-7 to start but went on a 7-2 run to get themselves back into the match. However, after a back and forth battle the Eagles came out on top.

The third set was full of ties with nine total between the two teams, it was truly a back and fourth game. However, after another 18-19 score in favor of OKWU they were able to go on a 6-1 run to finish off the Swedes.

The Details . . .

The Swedes' outside hitters led the offensive effort again. Nikita Nelson, senior outside, was the only Swede earn double-digit kills with 10. Carli Vahsholtz, junior outside, ended the match with seven kills off of 20 attempts with two errors. She posted a .250 hitting percentage on the night. Nicole Morgan, senior right-side, had six kills to add.

Connor Stolley, junior libero, was again all over the floor and led the Swedes' consistently tough defense. Stolley had 14 digs and Nelson was just behind her with 12. The setters, Karissa Chaparro, sophomore setter, and Eileen Vlamis, senior setter, each got in the action with seven digs a piece.

The Bethany defense was aided by a huge front line tonight. Chanelle McCormick, junior middle blocker, ended the night with six total blocks, one being solo. Marissa Charley, freshman right-side, had four blocks through the night and Yamiq Myles, sophomore middle blocker, put up three with one solo.

Chaparro led the team in assists tonight with 14 and her counter-part Vlamis had 10.
