LINDSBORG, Kan. – The Swedes football team is hitting the halfway point in their spring season. With nine practices to go, the team is gearing up for their spring football game on Friday, April 21 at 7 p.m. In this scrimmage, they will highlight their offseason work and give a preview for the 2017 season. 

The coaching staff if proud of the development the offense has seen in the offseason and so far this spring. They feel that the team is developing chemistry and working well as a unit. The offensive line is boasting its size with 15 offensive lineman practicing this spring, each competing for a spot.

Defensively, the team has shown maturity through another of play and experience in the program. There is depth at each position that brings daily motivation and intense competition to the field.

"I am encouraged to see that both the offense and defense are making plays, flying around and getting better each day," Swedes head coach Paul Hubbard said.

This is the largest squad the team has had for the spring in the Hubbard era. The coaching staff sees athletes stepping into roles that need to be filled in order for the team to be successful next season.

"The energy that the teams brings every day to practice is something I am excited about," Hubbard said. "These guys are fighting day in and day out for their spot, their hard work and motivation is contagious and encouraging."

The team will showcase their efforts on Friday, April 21 in their annual spring game. Kickoff for this event is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside Anderson Stadium.
