The Bethany Swedes Men's and Women's tennis teams impress at ITA Regional.
Sophomore Mitchell De Jong makes semis of singles and doubles (with Freshman Jack Schoeman) eventually falling to the #4 nationally ranked Caffardo of Graceland and the #4 nationally ranked team of Caffardo/Brodbeck.  Sophomore Jakub Szymanski and Freshman Ivan Rashkov had two big wins over the #1 teams from Baker and Missouri Valley before eventually fallling to the 19th nationally ranked Cordova/Waite team from Graceland in the quarters.
Jakub Szymanski almost pulled the upset of the tournament before falling in a third set tiebreak to #37 nationally ranked Brett Waite of Graceland after holding a match point in the second set.  Szymanski, kept his composure, and won the back side of the bracket over players from Nebraska Wesleyan, William Jewell, and Missouri Valley.
On the women's side Victoria Guedez and Stacie Schoon lost in a battle to the #1 seeded team from William Jewell in the quarter finals of the doubles 8-5.  The match came down to one break of serve near the end of the match with both teams playing quality tennis.  Schoon and Guedez also won all their matches on the back draw and are scheduled to meet in the final.
