LINDSBORG, Kan. - The Bethany Athletic Department has announces the hiring of Lindsborg native Hayley Morrical as the new Head Cheer Coach for the Swedes. 

"Being raised and living in Lindsborg, the people at Bethany have always treated me as an unofficial alumnus. During my years in college, I fell in love with cheerleading and continued coaching post-graduation. Combining my love for the sport and the college that has always treated me like family is an honor," Morrical said.

Morrical is currently membership and community relations associate for the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce. There, she oversees the Salina Area Young Professionals group, plans membership events, promotes upcoming events through local media, and writes grants to fund special projects.

Morrical is also a coach for Fierce Athletics and Training in Salina. During her time there, she has coached an introductory cheerleading team, worked with athletes to learn tumbling skills, assisted in demonstrating correct technique for tumbling, jumps, assisted in guiding new coaches in classes, and worked on boosting the confidences of new athletes.

In Lindsborg, Morrical is also the owner and trainer of the Sweaty Swedes program. For this, she creates circuit workouts for clientele twice a week as well as working as a personal trainer for athletes; she has coached athletes to perform in their first half marathons, obstacle races, and 5Ks, through this program. Along with these duties, Morrical also markets and promotes the business to McPherson and Saline Counties, growing the classes to 15+ members consistently.

Morrical was a collegiate athlete, cheering at two NAIA institutions, Bethel College and Baker University. While attending Baker from 2014-2015, Morrical was a competitor in the National Cheerleading Competition, she was a member of the Delta Mu Delta Business Honors Society, she was a member of the Dean's List in 2014, and she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Business in December 2015 maintaining a 3.75 grade point average.

Morrical is looking forward to building each athletes skills and developing a well-rounded team for the Swedes.

"Hayley has a tremendous passion for cheer and Bethany College," Swedes Dean of Athletics and Student Development, Dane Pavlovich said. "She has the knowledge and skill set to enhance the Swedes Cheer program, and I look forward to working with her and witnessing the new direction for the program."
