LINDSBORG, Kan. - The Swedes men's soccer team adds five student-athletes for the 2017-2018 school year; Chris Fischer, Richardson, Texas; Christian Joyner-Williams, Grapevine, Texas; Michael Wick, Conroe, Texas; Julio Navarrete, Arlington, Texas; and Adrian Mahaffey, Joplin, Mo. 

Chris Fischer (Texas)

Fischer is a 5'10 left and right back from J.J. Pearce High school. There, he played soccer all four years. He was also on the Texas Spurs showcase team.

Fischer is the son of Mike and Sarah Fischer. He maintains a 3.1 grade point average and plans to study history at Bethany.

Christian Joyner-Williams (Texas)

Joyner-Williams is a 5'9 midfielder and defender from Union High School where he played soccer all four years. Along with soccer, he was an Air Force JROTC Senior Airman as well as a team captain from his sophomore year to his senior year.

Joyner-Williams is the son of Rocky Williams and Angela Negron. He keeps a 3.0 grade point average and plans to double major in marketing and finance as a Swede.

Mike Wick (Texas)

Wick is a 6'1 goalkeeper from Northwestern College where he played for two years, starting in seven games. In college, he averaged five saves per game and in high school, Wick was named defensive MVP and goalkeeper of the conference.

Wick is the son of Mike and Elizabeth Wick. He maintains a 3.4 grade point average and plans to study finance at Bethany.

Julio Navarette (Texas)

Navarrete is a 5'6 midfielder, right back, and center back from Sam Houston High School where he played soccer all four years.

Navarrete is the son of Julio and Nora Navarrete. He plans to study physical therapy at Bethany and earned a 3.0 grade point average in high school.

Adrian Mahaffey (Missouri)

Mahaffey is a 5'8 defensive midfielder from Webb City High School where he played soccer all four years. During his time at Webb City, he was rewarded most improved player his freshman year.

Mahaffey is the son of Dalis and Bryan Mahaffey. He received a 3.0 grade point average in high school and plans to study game design at Bethany.

"Our coaching staff is very excited to announce the addition of this group of talented soccer student-athletes!" Swedes head coach Shane Taylor said. "Every year we are working hard to compete and grow better as a program. These five young men move us positively towards our goals. Welcome to the Swede family!"
