LINDSBORG, Kan. – Bethany College has announced the hiring of Brittany Zajac as assistant softball coach. Zajac recently graduated from NCAA Division III Hiram College in Hiram, Ohio with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance.

"I'm very grateful for this opportunity as coaching has always been a goal of mine," Zajac said. "I've heard wonderful things about Bethany. I am looking forward to meeting the players and staff, and I can't wait to get to work!"

While at Hiram, Zajac was a four-year starter on the softball team as a pitcher and first baseman. She earned First Team All-NCAC Honors as a freshman, and served as team captain her senior year. During her career at Hiram, Zajac held numerous responsibilities in terms of team management, including: helping plan practices; weekly meetings with the coaching staff to discuss the state of the team and provide suggestions for adjustments and improvements; overseeing team workouts; and giving tours to prospective students while also discussing her experiences at Hiram regarding the school and softball program.

Zajac was also very involved at Hiram College. She was a member of the Funding You Board, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and Terrier Activities Board.

"We are very excited to add Brittany Zajac to our Swedes Softball coaching staff," said head coach Laura Moreno. "From the start of the interview process, we felt like Coach Zajac's energy, enthusiasm, and eagerness and willingness to learn is a great fit for our coaching staff and program. Her leadership qualities are recognizable very quickly, which will bring an immediate positive affect our program as we hit the ground running with our fall practices and workouts. We feel Coach Zajac's playing experience as a pitcher, first baseman, and as a hitter will be able to benefit our squad in several different aspects. She was also an integral part of the recruiting process for softball student-athletes while at Hiram, so we are looking forward to building on that and seeing her impact on our programs' recruiting efforts. We are thrilled for Coach Zajac to join our Swedes Family and get to work with us!"

A native of Corry, Pa., Zajac has previous coaching experience with the Corry Little League. She also has work experience at Corry Manufacturing Company in Corry, Pa., Coronado Stone Products in Westfield, N.Y., Kohl's in Bainbridge, Ohio, and Joseph McCormick Construction in Erie, Pa.
