BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Swedes men's soccer team wrapped up a two-game stint in Florida. In each game, it came down to the final minutes for a decisions.

Facing Warner last night, the teams went through two overtimes before the game finished in a 1-1 tie. Today, against Webber International the Swedes fell 1-2 to the Warriors with all three goals happening in the second half.

Warner v. Bethany -

On Saturday, the teams went through the first half scoreless, with a total of 10 shots by both. In the second half, it was the Swedes who struck first. Zen Baatjes, sophomore defender, crossed a ball over and teammate, Lucas Muckley, sophomore forward, scored with a sliding kick in the 61st minute.

The Swedes held on to that lead until late in the game when the Royals finally answered in the 82nd minute. Then, after two overtimes, neither team could take the lad so the game ended in a tie.

The Details . . .

Logan Galvin, sophomore keeper, was a monster in the net for the Swedes. The sophomore allowed just one goal grabbing 15 saves in the game.

Webber International v. Bethany –

Again the teams waited until late in the game to strike. Ten minutes into the second half, the Warriors netted a penalty kick going up on the Swedes 1-0. Webber struck again with a goal in the 74th minute.

The Swedes were finally able to get on the board with a goal from CJ Lewis, sophomore forward. This goal was assisted by Jack Rhys-Jones, sophomore midfielder. However, this late-game goal was not enough to lift the Swedes over the Warriors.

The Details . . .

Defensively, Mike Wick, sophomore keeper, was in the net. He allowed two goals grabbing nine saves in the game.

Up Next . . .

The Swedes return to Kansas for a 10-day break before traveling to Atchison, Kan. on September 13, to face the Ravens of Benedictine College. This match is slated to kick off at 7 p.m.
