The Bethany College women's soccer team looked to continue their six-game winning streak as they kicked off their conference schedule this past Saturday by hosting Southwestern College on the new turf field.  Unfortunately, the ball did not roll Bethany's way as they lost a heartbreaking 1-0 game.

Bethany's defense played a solid game, keeping a shutout until Southwestern managed to score with 12:35 in the second half.  The Swede offense kept pushing the Moundbuilders as they fired shot after shot.  Freshman Mychele Mendez led with five shots on goal as senior Megan Ziegel had three.  Freshmen Stacey Pelayo and Megan Xavier each had two shots on goal, followed by freshman Tara Rose with one.  However, the Swedes could not find the net as they fell 1-0.

Bethany looks to grab their first conference victory this week by traveling to Ottawa University on Wednesday, October 8th before returning home to host Tabor College on Homecoming Saturday, October 11th.  Game times are set for 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., respectively.  The soccer Swedes are now 7-2 overall and 0-1 in the KCAC.
