The Bethany College men's soccer team began their conference schedule last Saturday by hosting Southwestern College.  The Swedes kept the offensive pressure on, but just could not muster a lead as they fell 3-2 to the Moundbuilders.

Southwestern jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead by scoring within the first 20 minutes of the game.  However, Bethany answered back less than three minutes later as freshman James Fox found the net off an assist by senior James Pacheco.  The Moundbuilders would again take the lead with 25:35 in the first half.  The Swedes again tied the game two minutes later as junior Hector de la Cruz found the net, assisted by Fox.  The score was tied at 2 going into halftime, but Southwestern would tack on another goal within the first ten minutes of the second half.  The Swedes were unable to answer back, losing 3-2.

Bethany looks to grab their first conference victory as they travel to Ottawa University on Wednesday, October 8th before returning home to host Tabor College on Homecoming Saturday, October 11th.  Game times are set for 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., respectively.  The Swedes are now 4-5 overall, and 0-1 in the KCAC.
