The Bethany College women's soccer team continued their conference schedule this past week. They traveled to Ottawa University on Wednesday before hosting Tabor College on Homecoming Saturday.
The Swedes came out Wednesday against the Braves looking for their first conference win. Unfortunately, Bethany struggled to muster up some offense as they lost 5-0. The Braves out shot the Swedes 17 to zero in the first half and 14 to four in the second half.
Looking to rebound after a tough loss Wednesday, the Swedes did just that as they took on Tabor College Saturday evening. Junior Kristin Palmer put Bethany on the board with a header off a corner kick from senior Megan Ziegel. The Swedes would turn around and score again in the first half as freshman Mychele Mendez found the net, assisted by junior Ashli Saldibar. Up 2-1 at the half, Bethany added to their lead as junior Carla Toler scored off another assist from Ziegel. The Swedes would go on to grab a 3-1 victory against the Blue Jays.
The Swedes travel to Central Christian College on Monday, October 13th at 4 p.m. before making the trip to the University of St. Mary on Wednesday October 15th at 2 p.m. Bethany will end the week by traveling to Sterling College on Saturday, October 18th. Kick off is set for 11 a.m. The Swede soccer team is now 8-3 overall and 1-2 in the KCAC.
