Bethany Women's Tennis looking to capture fourth straight KCAC title.
The 2009 Bethany women will be looking to continue their string of KCAC titles, with five of the top seven players returning. Returning varsity players Beth Prier, Aimee Harrell, Stacie Schoon, Victoria Guedez and Crystal Mannebach will be looked to for leadership and expected to play once again in the top six.
This years co-captains are Prier and Harrell, who have shown a great amount of leadership in their time as Swedes. Newcomers Nyska Etienne, a Barton County Community College transfer, Jackie Steinle, Kaitlyn Clawson, and Sara McVay will be pushing them for a spot, along with returners Jaycee Gfeller, Natalie Pena and Morgan Hubele.
Head Tennis Coach Vic Bateman says, "We will miss the contributions of graduated players Shanda Kilian and Michelle Hinman, who were huge to our team the last 4 years, along with super-fans Rick and Robin Kilian and their RV."
The women's schedule will once again be tough, competing against several JUCO's in the state, and some top 25 NAIA teams on the schedule. The women will start their season with a trip to Texas on Feb. 12, followed by a trip to Neb. on Feb. 21 to play Nebraska Wesleyan University and William Jewell University, two programs the Swedes have traditionally had great matches with.
