Bethany College welcomes Bethany alum Jay Myers, Lindsborg, as assistant track and field coach.
Myers will serve under head coach Aaron Davis through May, 2009. Starting June 1, 2009, Felicia Simms, a Bethany College alum, will serve as assistant track and field coach.
Myers has 31 years experience coaching football, basketball, track and field and golf, including two years as an assistant football and basketball coach at Bethany. Myers recently retired from Smoky Valley High School.
He holds an associates degree from Seward County Community College, a bachelor's degree in social science teaching from Bethany College and a master's degree in communication from Fort Hays State University.
Simms currently is completing a master's degree in education at Marietta College (Ohio). There she also serves as assistant track and field coach. She oversees the men and women throwers and is strength and conditioning coach for the team's throwers, jumpers, sprinters and distance runners.
At Bethany, Simms earned a bachelor's degree in physical education. As a track and field athlete at Bethany, Simms was named most inspirational athlete, was a four-time All-Conference KCAC Champion, and team captain for four years. She was also an NAIA National Outdoor and Indoor Qualifier in the hammer and weight throw, respectively. Simms had the record at Bethany in the hammer and weight throw in 2003, 2004, and 2006.
