The Bethany College men's basketball team traveled to Omaha, NE this past weekend to participate in the Grace University Classic. The Swedes played Grace University Friday night before taking on William Penn College Saturday afternoon.
The Swedes came out strong against Grace University Friday afternoon. Up by six at the half, Bethany would outscore the Royals the remainder of the game and go on to grab a 71-64 victory. Sophomore Justin Holcom had a game high 21 points as well as 13 rebounds and six assists. Junior Brandon Miller contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Kendall Banning and senior Marcus Wells led the Bethany defense with three blocked shots and three steals, respectively.
Coming off a solid win the night before, the Swedes looked to come up with another as they took on 17th nationally ranked William Penn College. Bethany was down by seven at the half and just could not muster up enough strength to upset the Statesmen as they fell 70-62. Junior C.J. Littlejohn led the Swede offense with 20 points. Freshman Trey Beachum III had 12 points while Miller had 10. Holcom added three steals, two assists, and one blocked shot while freshman Clayton Goggins had two steals.
The Swedes will be back on the court Monday, December 1st as they host Mid-America Christian. Game time is set for 7:00 P.M. Bethany is now 3-3 overall.
