Samantha Andersen, Waterville, Kan., has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at Bethany College for the 2009-2010 academic year.
"We are very excited and pleased to have Sam playing for us next year," said head coach Nathalea Stephenson. "Sam is not afraid of hard work and it is evident by her grades that she has great work ethic, and we are sure that she will bring that to the court as well. She is a very well rounded individual. Sam is one of those individuals that strives for excellence."
Andersen is a 5'8" outside hitter from Valley Height Junior/Senior High School. There she played volleyball for four years as well as basketball. Andersen was also a four-year participant in the triple jump, javelin, and 400m events in track. In addition, she was a two-year letter winner in both band and drill team. Andersen earned all league honors in volleyball in both 2007 and 2008. She was also named to the Principal's Honor Roll and is a member of National Honor Society, KAYS, and FCA.
Andersen has a 4.0 high school GPA. At Bethany she plans to study mathematics.
Andersen is the daughter of Gail and Julie Andersen.
