The Bethany College baseball team was back on the field after some time off.  The team headed to Nebraska Wesleyan last Saturday.

Down 3-0 in the sixth inning, the Swedes managed to push a run across, but that would be it for their offensive action as they were held to only two hits and lost 3-1.  Juniors Jimmy Smith and Aaron Larsen tallied the hits for Bethany.  Smith had one RBI.  Junior Brian Guyett got the start for the Swedes, facing only seven batters and striking out three.  Juniors Ryan Mashinter and Josue Iniguez came in as relief.

Hoping to turn things around in game two, Bethany again struggled at the plate as they were held to two hits, shut out by Nebraska Wesleyan and fell 2-0.  Juniors Braden Friesz and Daryl Schlepp had the hits for Bethany.  Sophomore T.D. Huett started for the Swedes while sophomore Kevin Krattenmaker and senior Cameron RIttinger came in as relief.

The Swedes will be back in action on Tuesday, March 10th as they head to the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma for one nine-inning game.  Bethany then kicks off their conference schedule on Thursday, March 12th as they host Sterling College for a 1:00 pm doubleheader.  The squad will end the week by traveling to Sterling on Saturday, March 14th for their second conference doubleheader.  Bethany is now 10-9 on the year.
